Boston Farmers' Market Wraps Up |

 After many years of supporting the Federation of Massachusetts Farmers' Markets (FMFM), Equal Exchange finally became a regular at one of the markets. Throughout the summer and fall, Equal Exchange gave out free samples and sold bulk coffee at the Copley Square farmers' market in Boston. Our weekly appearances helped connect us with thousands of coffee drinkers who want to support Fair Trade. It was also an opportunity to introduce our new healthy snacks from farmers in the U.S. – our pecans, almonds and cranberries.
The FMFM, which is a public, non-profit, charitable service organization dedicated to the needs of farmers, consumers and communities, provides support for over 127 farmers' markets statewide. These markets not only provide a healthy shopping experience, but also help build community in the neighborhoods where they take place.
Highlights from the market included musical performances by Rob Everts, the co-executive director of Equal Exchange, and Virginia Berman, the director of the organizing department. Travis Magrane, a guitarist and singer from Portland, Ore., also stopped by for a performance while on his East Coast tour.
Duck Boat and Old Town Trolley drivers, who lead tours of Boston for people from all over the world, also made frequent stops at our booth to get some fresh coffee and tell their passengers about the importance of Equal Exchange! The biggest highlight, however, was the number of return customers we had every week. We can't wait to see them again next year!
