Cacao Farmer Visits Schools |
By Ashley Symons, Marketing Writer
Victor Diaz, a cacao farmer and member of CONACADO Co-op, visited city schools in Massachusetts and New York that participate in the Equal Exchange Fundraising Program - which means they help support Victor’s co-op by selling Equal Exchange chocolate products.
The kids had fun learning about how Victor farms cacao and how it turns into the chocolate products they sell. "We saw the magic that happens when a farmer gets into a room with the people selling the products," said Virginia Berman, the Fundraising Program Director.
Victor agreed. He said he received a very warm welcome, and "felt among family."
The visit also included a conference call among Victor, Equal Exchange staff, and parents and students from participating schools.
If you would like to join a conference call with a cacao farmer in 2009, please E-mail Virginia Berman.
