On Sept. 20, 2008, Equal Exchange was the official coffee sponsor of the Farm Aid rock concert held at the Comcast Center in Mansfield, Mass. Throughout the one-day event, 15 staff and worker-owners from Equal Exchange served coffee and healthy snacks to over 25,000 people. We even provided coffee to the featured artists: Dave Mathews, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and John Mellencamp! The event was a perfect fit for Equal Exchange.
“The Farm Aid concert is a celebration of the same small family farms that Equal Exchange is building relationships with," said Lynsey Miller, Equal Exchange's Market Development Leader, who was at the event serving coffee, as well as healthy snacks from small farmers in the United States. "Farm Aid rewards the farmers already doing good work while also focusing heavily on education.” Hmm, sounds familiar.
To continue building this partnership and to help strengthen small farming communities, Equal Exchange sponsored the “New England Dinner to Benefit Farm Aid” on Oct. 15 in Boston.
