Trike Rider
Would you like to be a part of an innovative new program not only for Equal Exchange, but also for the world? Do you like to create change just by doing the things you love, like riding a really large, heavy trike around the city of Boston, standing for long hours on hard concrete. That's not even the best part, you will be playing a key role in an organization that is committed to changing our food system - working more directly with the people who produce our coffee and serving communities in the places that they commune, right on the street - off the back of your very own trike!

Job Description:
  • Employment Status: Part-time temporary/seasonal with potential for longer term
  • Pay: hourly plus tips
  • Hours: shifts ranging from 20 to 40 hours/week
  • Start Date: as soon as possible
  • Reports to: Café Developer
  • Based at: South Boston
Qualifications:
  • Reliability and punctuality a must!
  • Great customer service skills
  • High energy, friendly and outgoing nature
  • Strong communicator
  • Cash handling experience
  • Interested in proper coffee preparation techniques
  • Passionate about Equal Exchange's mission
  • Comfort with navigating and riding around Boston
  • Independent, trustworthy and motivated
  • Understanding of social media
  • Takes initiative
Responsibilities:
  • Preparing consistently high-quality coffee beverages
  • Making customers feel welcome in a community environment
  • Communicating the high quality of our beverages
  • Accurate cash handling skills
  • Taking available opportunities to learn about Equal Exchange's role in changing food systems
  • Keeping up to date with social media
  • Navigating the streets of Boston on a trike with a cart
  • Inventory management
  • Meticulous care and cleaning of both bikes and all things coffee related
