Warehouse Operations
Equal Exchange is a fair trade organization and gourmet coffee roaster based in West Bridgewater, MA. Founded in 1986, our mission is to create more fair trade relationships between farmers and consumers. We bypass the conventional marketing system by cutting out middlemen and buying directly from farmer cooperatives.

This is a full-time, worker-owner track position out of our West Bridgewater, Massachusetts headquarters. Equal Exchange is a worker-owned co-operative and an equal opportunity employer.

Job Description:
  • Employment Status: Full-time, regular position on worker-owner track
  • Hours: 40-45 hrs per week
  • Benefits: 100% health and dental premium coverage for employee, 50% for dependents; vacations, holidays, sick days, personal days; eligibility for worker ownership; flex spending; 401k after 1 year
  • Department: Warehouse
  • Reports to: Warehouse Manager
Qualifications:
  • An interest in the mission of Equal Exchange.
  • A desire to learn and contribute to the success of the organization. Willingness to do other tasks as needed by the organization in operations or elsewhere.
  • Be a quick learner and enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in warehouse work is desirable but not mandatory.
  • An ability to do extensive lifting is required (up to 70 lbs).
  • An ability to pay attention to detail and work accurately.
  • Basic understanding of English.
Responsibilities:
  • Order-Picking. Organize picksheets for fastest, most accurate picking. Follow special requests of sales teams.

  • Shipping. Prepare orders for UPS and truck shipments in time for daily deadline. Fill out all paperwork necessary for each outbound shipment.

  • Stocking & Clean up. Restock daily, following systems set up to ensure product rotation. Keep warehouse area organized and free from debris. Remove damaged products from picking locations.

  • Problem-solving. Participate with department team-mates to continuously improve our practices. Work in a team-based system with Sales, Customer Service, Interfaith, Finance and others to build an effective, efficient organization. Take on special responsibilities after showing competency in core tasks.

  • Organizational Participation. Active participation in the Equal Exchange cooperative; attendance at staff meetings, completion of the worker-owner curriculum, participation on organizational committees where possible.
